Tie-Dye Shorts 3 Ways

Published Date May 29, 2018

Summer time means two things; shorts and tie-dye! In case you didn’t know, tie-dye isn’t just for shirts. You can dye pretty much anything! So since the weather is getting warmer, why not add some color to your favorite pair of shorts? Here are 3 ways you can use Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye to give your shorts a fun spin.

This first one is super simple! All you do is take your dye, and apply it in a stripe pattern on your shorts. The colors will blend a little, but that’s okay! Now you have an awesome rainbow on a summer day. Check out how Crafty Chica created hers!

You’ve heard of ombre hair, ombre nails, but guess what; the ombre technique has made its way to tie-dye and it’s pretty awesome! If your shorts aren’t already white, or a lighter wash finish, then we suggest bleaching them for best results. Then add the dye to the bottom of your shorts and use a brush to brush the dye up towards the top. The color should fade as you brush up, giving the ombre effect (You could totally start at the top and work your way down too). Pearmama created some awesome ombre shorts here

The last technique that would be awesome to try with your shorts is the dip dye technique. Simply put your dye powder in the tub and just add water. Here, two colors are used but you could just use one if you like. Take your shorts and dip! That’s it! Look at how awesome this patriotic pattern came out!

There are many other ways you can dye your shorts, but these are the most fun! And that’s what summer time is all about right? Don’t forget to be creative and colorful!
