Gather your supplies for your tie-dye resist project.

Before you get started on your resist tie-dye project, prewash and dry the fabric that you’ll be dyeing. Cover your tie-dye station with a protective surface and lay your project flat. Use scissors to cut the applicator tip of the Tie-Dye Resist.

Apply Tulip Tie-Dye Resist onto your project. Use it to write your name, special sayings, or other fun designs and patterns! For this project, we’re using the Tie-Dye Resist to create a mesmerizing mermaid resist dye design. Create mermaid scales by applying the Tie-Dye Resist in a scalloped patten.

Once you’ve finished drawing your designs, allow the Tie-Dye Resist to set and dry for 24 hours. Once your designs have set, it’s time to prepare your tie-dye. Add water to the dye bottles, filling to the neck. Replace cap tightly and shake well until dye is dissolved.

Apply dyes to your resist tie-dye project. For this project, we’re keeping it simple with some colorful tie dye stripes. Feel free to apply the dye onto your project however you’d like— there’s no wrong way to tie dye!

Once you’ve finished adding your dyes, cover your resist tie-dye project with plastic wrap or place it into a sealable plastic bag to keep it damp while the dye completely processes. This will take 6 to 8 hours or overnight for more intense colors.
