Tie-Dye Station

Tie-Dye Station

Setting up a tie-dye station for your Fourth of July celebration is ideal for keeping all supplies in one convenient area. Make sure to cover the table with a disposable plastic tablecloth for easy cleanup with the tie-dye fun is done! It also helps to prep the dyes before everyone gets to the party so they’re ready to go.

Dampen shirts and put on gloves

Tell party guests before they arrive to bring a white cotton T-shirt in their size (or you can provide the shirts if you like), then make sure to thoroughly dampen each shirt and wring out. Have everyone put on gloves and choose their favorite tie-dye techniques from the project guides included in the kits.

Now it’s officially time for the tie dye part of your Fourth of July celebration! You might need to help the kiddos fold and bind their shirts with rubber bands (depending on the technique they choose). Then have them add the red and blue tie dye to their bound shirts any way they like!

Place projects in plastic bags when done

It also helps to have some paper towels on standby for quick and easy cleanup when working with the dyes. Once everyone is happy with their tie-dye project, write their name on a sealable plastic bag and place their project in the bag for easy, mess-free transport home while the dye sets.

Tie-Dye Handkerchiefs
