Tie-Dyed Curtains

Published Date August 03, 2020

Check out how to make your very own tie dye curtains out of a clearance shower curtain! It is so simple but has killer results! Use different colors of dye depending on the color of your room.

What you need:

Tie Dye Kit of your choice

Clearance Shower Curtain (make sure it is cotton)

Scissors

Aleene's Fabric Fusion Permanent Fabric Tape

Dampen and tie-up fabric to desired technique

Dunk your shower curtain in water and ring it out so it is just damp. This is going to help the fabric absorb the dye. At this point you will also need to choose your tie dye design. Choose bullseye, spiral, crumple or whatever suits your fancy!

Apply dye

Apply your dye. Be careful with this because if you use too much dye you won't be able to see the pattern in your finished product, but make sure you don't use too little either. Let set, wash and dry.

Cut into two pieces

Cut into two pieces

Because shower curtains are rather wide, you are going to be able to get two curtains out of it! Just fold the shower curtain in half. Making sure the top is along the top and not along the side. Then cut down the folded line.

Create seams

Create seams

To get a crisp seam, use Aleene's Permanent Fabric Adhesive Tape to the back along the edge. No need to ever learn how to sew when you have this amazing stuff! Fold over the seam as straight as you can for a professional finish! Now you have not one but 2 curtains!!
